This is just the parts quote to replace one of the exhaust manifolds on the truck. Total cost including labor will be anywhere from $700-$850 on Thursday, depending on how many bolts break when they remove the old exhaust manifold. Fun. I don’t feel like being an adult today…

Campfire Program – Check!
John and his Cub Scout Den completed another requirement towards earning the Wolf rank – a campfire program. The boys performed two skits. In one of the skits, John was a king demanding to know where his “very important papers” were. In case you were wondering, his very important papers turned out to be a roll of toilet paper.
A couple of other boys told some jokes in between setting up for both skits and then the boys sang “Baby Bumble Bee” to end the program. Great job Den 8!
St. Louis Zoo!
We had a fun day at the St. Louis Zoo. We visited the Children’s Zoo first and then went to the new polar bear exhibit. This was definitely a highlight for all of us, but the kids especially as the polar bear was literally swimming right next to them.
We also went for a ride on the train, which is always fun!
Then, we spent the day just wandering through the different exhibits. Unfortunately, the kids were “attacked” by this snake! John allowed the snake to bite him so that Laura could steal one of the snake’s eggs.
Not to worry, both kids were okay after the “attack.” We spent a while wandering through the Sea Lion tunnel and just watching them from above. The kids decided to see how hard it is to balance a ball on their noses. Laura went first…
She decided it was definitely not as easy as a Sea Lion makes it look. Then, John stepped up for a turn…
He also declared it difficult. Both kids decided that maybe they weren’t cut out to be Sea Lions. We ended the day wandering through the bird and reptile houses on Historic Hill. We had a really great time at the zoo. I am looking forward to seeing the Stingrays next time we go back!
St. Louis
We left the Chicago area today and headed for St. Louis. We spent the evening relaxing in the hotel pool and hot tub.
The kids loved the pool because you could swim from the inside to the outside. Laura was the brave one and went first…
She made sure to wave once she was outside.
Not to be outdone by his big sister, John decided to take a turn…
He was so proud of himself!
It will be an early night though because we have been up late for two nights and we are going to the St. Louis Zoo tomorrow!
Day #2
Today, we left Blume’s Tropical Oasis in the early afternoon and headed for Naperville, IL, to meet up with Andy’s sister. It was great to see Rachel, Jason, and Gunner again and it was even better because we finally got to meet Skyler, her oldest son. We had dinner at Lou Malnati’s Pizza (YUM!) and then went back to our hotel to swim. The kids had a great time playing together and the adults had a great time talking, enjoying some drinks, and relaxing. It was a great, second day of vacation.
