Summer School Mornings
Summer school mornings feel so much more relaxed even though I have just as much to do and I still get up at 5 am. Maybe it is because I get the kids up at separate times and the morning just seems slower. Maybe it is because I get to enjoy coffee at home instead of drinking it as I am running out the door and driving to work. Whatever it is, I will take it! Although, my morning still looks like this…
Round 1!
- Get up at 5 am. Shower and get ready.
- Get John up at 6 am. Get him breakfast, empty the dishwasher, put lunches together, and get John ready. Straighten up the upstairs. Fit in a cup of coffee.
- Get John to the school bus stop and on the school bus at 6:40 am.
Time for Round 2!
- Get twenty minutes to relax. Drink a second cup of coffee. Play Candy Crush Saga or update my blog. Make our bed.
- Get Laura up at 7 am. Get her breakfast, clean up the kitchen, and get her ready for school. Straighten up the kids’ room and the family room. Sometimes, drink my third cup of coffee.
- Drive Laura to school for drop off at 7:50 am. Drink my third or fourth cup of coffee on the way.
- Arrive at work at 8:10 am. Let Round 3 begin!

Father’s Day
Happy, Happy Father’s Day to my husband! Thank you for always being there for our beautiful children, for hugging them when they need it, for disciplining them when they need it, for being there in all the moments whether big or small, and for supporting me as their mother. I love hearing them call you Daddy.
We love you!
Softball!
Our niece, Avry, had a double elimination softball tournament at Mid-America Sports Complex in Shawnee Mission, Kansas, this weekend. We took the opportunity to go watch her play and see Andy’s brother, Dave.
We got to see two games and, while Avry was not particularly happy with the way she played, it was still great to watch her. She played Center Field in the first game and laid down some nasty bunts to advance the runner.
She played catcher in the second game. Unfortunately, her team lost the second game, and it ended the tournament for them. Not the way the Wasco Diamonds wanted to finish the tournament, but it was still great to see Avry play!
She has another tournament in July at this same complex. We are definitely going back!

Goodbye
There are a few things that I continue to hang on to that belonged to the kids when they were younger. This morning, I said goodbye to these interlocking plates and two bowls. It was time. The kids have not used them in years and all they did was take up space in my kitchen cabinet. It is another reminder that my toddlers are not toddlers anymore…
