Independence Day

Happy Fourth of July!  We spent the day doing what we wanted, meaning that Andy rode 100+ miles while I rode 16 miles and the kids just hung out and relaxed.  It was a great way to spend the holiday.  After much deliberation, we decided on Columbia for fireworks.  The kids really wanted to watch fireworks with our neighbors.

So, we headed downtown and made our way to the Lucky’s Market parking lot.  We got great seats!  This is the “pre-show.”

The fireworks show lasted about 15 minutes, but it was still one of the best that we have seen from Columbia.  I also have to say that this Google Pixel 2 phone certainly lives up to the reputation for taking the best phone photos!

After a super busy two days at work, I intend to relax tonight with a glass (or three) of wine.  It has been a great, last month at work and I feel reinvigorated!  It is amazing what a change in duties and responsibility can do for a person.  I am so happy to finally feel like I am moving forward again and to be using some long-dormant skills.  I feel productive and ready to go (but on Thursday after some wine, family time, and celebration).  Cheers!

Menu Plan

It has been over two months since I last made a menu plan.  It is time to get this little piece of “normal” back.  I am tired of never having what we need and cobbling dinner together.  It is also makes grocery shopping easier with trips only one time per week instead of several.  I already feel more relaxed about the next two weeks.

The Day Has Arrived

The day has arrived.  As we are preparing Laura’s room for a new desk, she decided that it was time to pack up nearly all of her American Girl things so that she can have a reading nook.  While “the girls” will remain in her room, most of the accessories will be boxed and stored.  She doesn’t want to sell any of it, because she might want it someday “for her daughter” as she said.  This momma is having a sad moment as I look at just a small part of it.  How did she get old enough for this?  Wasn’t she just six yesterday and we were buying her the first doll?  The excitement in her eyes that day was so amazing. She was the center of attention with Aunt Jill and her cousins at the Chicago store.  Laura will be 12 in just two short weeks.  Where has the time gone?
