Going Through Life One Blog Post at a Time

I walk. Kids ride. Fresh air and sunshine.

Laura is on her fourth go-round of Victoria Aveyard’s “Red Queen” book. Her ability to read the same book repeatedly and still love every minute of it is so like me and her Grandma Marianne. It’s the odd things that count.

You can’t hear it in a picture, but these two had the most amazing-sounding belly laughs happening in reaction to John tickling Laura. It is a little bit of normalcy in this crazy time.

I gave up and went to work today to pick up a monitor and office chair. My laptop is now set up in the basement. I can be on Zoom calls all day and not bother the entire family. I also am using my old WOW mousepad.

Andy’s laptop is now by its lonely self in the dining room. His focus is better when alone. He is not the multi-tasker that I am. Now, he won’t have to listen to me talk to myself. People, the struggle is real. I say some interesting things to myself when responding to work emails and such.

It is a good set-up and maybe it will prevent the multitude of 11-hour days that have been the norm this week. Laptop in basement = Easier to walk away.
Coronavirus Day Two – Work From Home
Observation #1 – I have a folder structure set up to save all important UM System and MU emails relating to the precautions and continual changes. I looked at those emails again today and thought, “Holy shit. I never thought I would be leading an organization through this.” Yet, here we are.

Observation #2 – I somehow cannot seem to stop working. My laptop on the dining room table is too damn convenient. I have put in three, 11-hour days in a row. Stop, Erica. Stop. Now.
It is Day One of school from home. John only had one assignment today, but Laura had several. Do not feel too badly for her. It amounted to about one hour’s worth of work. It will pick up for both of them after the end of next week, which is technically Spring Break.
