Today, I took the first spin back towards riding shape. For various reasons, I had all but given up on the bike by the end of last year, even going so far as to consider selling both my girls. I did not do that, but I made the conscious choice to step back. This past few weeks, the urge to ride has been there, so I asked my other half to ride with me today. It felt really good to be back on my Diverge riding next to Andy. I know that my butt is going to hurt tomorrow and my legs will be sore, but I intend to be back on the bike again (provided the rain holds off). It will be slow and steady until I feel like I have made it all the way back and Team Kassel can REALLY ride again.

I realize that it is almost April, but Laura wants Pumpkin Muffins for breakfast for this coming week. So, I thawed some frozen pumpkin puree from last fall and made muffins. You do what you have to do.

It was Andy’s homemade buttermilk waffles for breakfast.

It was my homemade pizza, including pizza dough and pizza sauce, for dinner!

We are making the most of this situation.
This social distancing thing is hard on all of us. Today, Laura and some of her friends were hanging out. For the most part, they were working on building the longest hopscotch board that they could and maintaining safe distances from each other. They were up to 300 boxes at one point. It took Laura 44 seconds to hop the whole thing. Yes, I did video it.

Then, the ice cream truck appeared on our street. Food trucks are considered food service, so they get a pass with our stay-at-home order. Well, one of Laura’s friends decided to buy them all ice cream. Once we realized that Laura was also eating ice cream, we made her come home, throw the warhead popsicle away, and wash her hands. She was so upset because those popsicles are big and she LOVES them. After a lot of talking, she understood why we did it, but this whole situation is just hard. It is so hard. Once this whole situation has passed, I am buying her a truck full of those damn things or as many as I can fit in the freezer. This virus sucks.

I tried a new online shopping service today. With the craziness of everything, the Hy-Vee online shopping is running 6+ days out for groceries. Instacart was 24-hour delivery for several stores, including Hy-Vee and Aldi. Essentially, you are hiring a personal shopper. It was only about $20 more, including tip, than what I would have spent in the grocery store. It was worth every penny to avoid the stress of shopping right now. Next time, I am ordering from Aldi.
