Copper Mountain – Day 1

Despite our best efforts, we ended up not being able to resist the siren call of our favorite watering hole…

The force is strong with Downhill Duke’s. We did manage to tear ourselves away (or maybe they closed) before the rest of our group arrived! After they got a short ride in and I made dinner, I was instructed to pour myself another glass of wine and let the men clean the kitchen.

I was happy to oblige.

Colorado!

While Laura is enjoying herself at NOAC in Boulder,…

…Andy and I are driving to Copper Mountain, Colorado, for our annual trip.

It is time for mountain views, great friends, lots of bicycle riding, and good drinks!

If you are wondering about John, he is at home. He is living his best life at marching band camp with Ari and his friends. There is no need to worry about him. Our village has him covered.

The End of Another Baseball Season

Another travel baseball season for John came to an end today with a second-place finish at the Show-Me State Games. This season was a new beginning for him, and we learned a few things along the way.

1. Winning *isn’t* everything. Sometimes, the right team makes the difference.
2. This kid *can* play under pressure as evidenced by his first walk-off at a previous tournament.
3. Baseball *can* be fun again. Not arguing with him about going to practice before every damn practice is pure gold.

Thanks to the USA Prime for a FUN season. Thanks for helping to restore the love of the game in my kid. I know the day is coming soon when John walks off the field for the last time, but this season will be the one I remember because this is the season that he said, “I want to play.” They may have won silver today, but this season was pure gold.

Concert

While John and I were at the ball field, Andy and Laura took in a concert at Rose Music Hall. It is time to soak up every last minute with Laura before she heads to college in two weeks.

A Night Out

Andy and I have not had the opportunity for a night out for a while. So, he requested a trip to a new restaurant, Endwell Taverna, for his birthday. I was completely happy to oblige!

Dinner was fantastic! We had peperoncini poppers, mushroom pizza, and great wine.

After dinner, we wandered downtown for a bit and just spent some time together. It was a great night out with one of my favorite people. Happy Birthday, Andy!
