It was quite the day for Laura. It started at 5:00 am with a Clarinet section breakfast.

Then, it was off to Hickman High School at 6:15 am to get uniforms on and load the busses. They arrived at the Mizzou practice field right about 7:00 am to warm up and run their field show.

By 8:30, they were in full uniform and ready for the day’s activities that included Tiger Walk, their field show, and Mizzou pre-game.

After that, it was pep tunes in the stands until halftime when Marching Mizzou returned from the Missouri Bicentennial Parade.

One of Laura’s favorite parts of the day was getting to play the post-game activities with Marching Mizzou. Combined, the bands are about 475 people. That is a lot of sound!

The Hickman Marching Band did a great job filling in for Marching Mizzou! Laura was so lucky to get this opportunity as a high school student. It was a day of memories to last a lifetime.

Laura feels official now! She received her official marching band t-shirt and shorts today, and the Clarinet section shirts arrived as well.

The excitement (and some nerves) has been building all week as Laura is just two short days from an experience that she will never forget. The Hickman High School Marching Band will be filling in for Marching Mizzou at the MU versus SEMO football game. They will do all pre-game activities, perform their show before the game, and play from the stands until Marching Mizzou returns from the Missouri Bicentennial celebration.
I am so very excited for this kid because I still remember when I played with the WIU Marching Leathernecks at a Chicago Bears game like it was yesterday. Soak it all in, Kiddo! There is simply nothing like it.
Unfortunately, I cannot be there to watch it as I will be in St. Louis with John for a baseball tournament, but if any of you are going to the game, please take a minute to stop and watch. This is the opportunity of a lifetime for a high schooler and I could not be more proud of the hard work this kid has put in. Enjoy Faurot Field, Laura! Your momma loves you to the moon and back.
My days as Interim Director at the Assessment Resource Center will be coming to a close soon as we are merging with another unit at the University. So, I moved to the Assistant Director’s office today. It is slightly smaller, but I have a window! I will take it.

Whenever Andy goes to Menards, he finds things that we “need.” While he did not buy these animated lighted eyes for Halloween Jack-o’-Lanterns, I was strongly encouraged to go to Menards and check them out…

I love flipping through pictures that friends post on Facebook. One of the baseball moms posted this gem from yesterday.
