Going Through Life One Post at a Time
Laura helped build benches for another Scout’s Eagle project today. I love that this kid loves to do service projects.

Laura is volunteering at Cub Scout Day Camp for the next two days helping Scouts build Newton cars. By the end of Friday, she will have another 18 service hours!

Laura got to have a unique experience today that also counted as service hours for Scouts. She was a live victim in a disaster scenario for EMS Education, which is one of the offices in my building at work. They train emergency medical technicians, and the disaster scenario is part of the final exam for students.

In the scenario, Laura was an intern at an animal laboratory that had an explosion. She said it was definitely a unique experience that turned out to be really interesting and fun. She told the coordinator that she would definitely participate again.

We officially have a Scout at the Life rank, and her Eagle Scout project is approved! Way to go, Laura! We are so proud of you!

The Mid-MO Stars gave it everything they had today. As the #5 seed, their games started at noon, and they just kept chipping away to the championship game. The first game ended pretty easily. The second game against the #1 seed was a fight to the end. The championship game was a struggle as it took a lot of pitching to just get to that game. However, the boys made no excuses, and they just kept playing. In the end, they finished in second, leaving everything on the field.

Afterwards, medals were handed out quickly and we all left the ballfield because it was 10:15 pm. We were more concerned about getting on the road for home. However, there are moments that make you stop and think. On my walk to the car, I overheard a player from the other team say, “Geez, Dad. That team just never stops even when they are losing.” That is some serious respect, and the boys earned it. Congratulations to the Mid-MO Stars on a hard-earned second place.
