John’s summer baseball team is playing in a wood bat tournament this weekend. While in the on-deck circle, he put the weight on his wood bat for warm up. Well, the weight got stuck, so he grabbed another 33-ounce wood bat and walked up to the plate. It must have been the perfect bat because he hit a home run and then almost hit another! I suspect he will be using that bat all weekend…
John got some exciting news this evening. He made the 16U league All-Star team for his summer baseball team, and he will be the starting left fielder in the All-Star game on July 27!
Even more neat is that his coach texted me the below after he made the announcement to the team and parents.
Then, he followed up that text with this…
John was second in the MVP voting for the 16u league! How cool is that? Unfortunately, with the way the league is scheduled, we could not go to every game because it meant some really late nights during the work week. Sometimes, the job has to come first. However, I could not be prouder of this kid. To be acknowledged like this by the other coaches in the league is amazing.
To John – Way to go! If this really is your last season of baseball, you are going out the best way possible – playing high-quality baseball and having all the fun doing it. See?!? You really CAN play this game, and the other coaches noticed. Your Dad and I are so proud of you, and we cannot wait to watch you play in the All-Star game!
One of the things that John wanted for his Senior photo session was to get a few pictures taken with Ari. So, I texted her mom and it was planned! The pictures are so great of the two of them. They met in marching band, so for this picture they are both wearing marching band show t-shirts. John’s t-shirt is from “The Agent”, and Ari’s t-shirt is from “The Crown”.
For one series of photos, the kids were supposed to skip and smile. Well, it turns out that John cannot skip. The laughter that followed yielded some of the biggest smiles from these two.
These two are just so cute together.
Thanks to Tamara for snagging some “extra” pictures for John’s Senior session!
John’s Senior photos arrived via an email link while I was sitting at the baseball field today and just in time for Senior Sunday! Tamara Dee Photography did such a great job, and the session yielded 203 edited photos.
We started in our backyard for some pictures with his trumpet.
Then, we made our way through downtown Columbia for the rest. I promised John that the session would take no more than 90 minutes and that he would have minimal clothing changes. I also promised that he could wear the hat that he loves and wears nearly every day for the end of the session. How could I not let him wear it? This photo is true John – shorts, active wear t-shirt, and hat.
I have so many favorites. He looks so handsome and grown up in the serious pictures.
I love his smile in this one. This is the real smile!
My overall favorite is this one. There is just something about that burnt orange shirt with the meters in the background.
I just love them all! Thanks for capturing these for us, Tamara!
