West Middle School alumni played with the Eighth Grade West Middle School band at their last concert. It was great to see over 25 kids from Hickman High School come back to perform with the band. It was definitely a reminder of just how far all these kids have come in their musical careers.
Laura was inducted into the National Honor Society tonight.
We are so proud of this kid and all of her academic achievements. It is so hard to believe that she will be a Senior in just a week.
Reach for the stars, Kiddo! Do not let anyone tell you that you cannot do something. Knock down those walls and do not look back. We love you to the moon and back!
The 2022 Marching Band memory books are here, and both kids were very excited to look through them. I think my favorite picture in the book is of the two of them on Twin Day. I really appreciate that a parent takes the time to put these together for the kids.
While the boys did not bring home a championship win, I did get to see my kid finally break his hitting slump. John almost tied the game in his final at bat, falling short of his first grand slam by about two feet. I am just going to blame the driving rain for keeping that ball from going over the fence. The boys still got a great medal for second place, and it is even pink to honor all the baseball moms.
My other kid decided to stay home for the day because she has been fighting allergies and probably a bit of a cold for the last few days. I got to see Laura after we got home, and we enjoyed a nice dinner. Happy Mother’s Day to all the great moms out there! I hope you got spoiled today.
Well, it was not the end of the season that we wanted for the Hickman C Baseball team as the boys lost in the Columbia Freshman Tournament Championship to Rock Bridge, 5-3. It was a successful season overall as the Kewpies went 18-10-2. John learned a lot this season as he adjusted to different coaching, faster pitching, and new baseball strategies. He showed steady improvement and really enjoyed the season.
It was a lot of fun watching #19 in his first high school baseball season! Way to go, Kid. Your dad and I are proud of you!
