What can I say about today?!? The boys FINALLY beat the Mavericks 10-9 in their first game of the day! John’s RBI base hit essentially gave them the 10th run that was just enough to hold off the Mavericks. They did it!
That win put them into the Championships for the first time as a team. Today was not meant to be our day though. I think we had too much time in between games and the heat just got to us. We lost the Championship game 15-10. It did not matter though. The boys played their hearts out and they were very excited to be the runners up! Each boy got their own plaque and John insisted that we display his in his room where he can see it.
It was so fun to watch the awards ceremony! I am not sure who was smiling more – the boys or us parents! It was great to see all their hard work pay off even if it wasn’t with first place. Sometimes, winning isn’t everything. Sometimes, it is knowing you can get there.
I think the thing that made today the most special was watching all the dads cheering their boys. The support and the love was what today was all about. Us moms waited all day to get that father-son picture and we finally got our chance at the end. I don’t think it gets any better than this. Just look at those smiles!
To my husband, you are everything to the two kids who call you Dad and I love watching you with them. I know I do not always show it because sometimes I let life and daily frustrations get in the way, but you are our world. We love you. Happy Father’s Day!
