It was a day of scouting – Girl Scouts and Cub Scouts. First, Laura’s troop had a canoeing lesson at Silver Meadows Campground.
Laura was really nervous at first, but her kayaking experience paid off. She did a great job as the “driver” and she and Jessie, her canoeing partner, did really well both times they were on the water. They even took a minute to wave to me…
Since Silver Meadows only has six canoes, the girls were broken into two groups. While on dry land, the girls got to learn how to tie different types of knots. This is Laura learning and practicing a square knot. It was a great morning and Laura is excited for the next canoeing lesson in April.
Next was the Cub Scout Camp Out at Arrow Rock State Historic Site. Andy and John packed up the camping gear and headed out in the morning while Laura and I were at canoeing. Both Laura and I were supposed to join them later, but I was not feeling well (darn fever!). So, I drove Laura out to the campground after canoeing and then headed home. I ended up sleeping the rest of the day while Andy, Laura, and John had a great time at the camp out!
They went on a hike, ate great food, sat around a campfire, and just spent time with the other Cub Scouts and their families. It was a great day of scouting all around!
