He is risen; He is risen, indeed! As always, we began our Easter morning at the Easter sunrise service. It is always an enjoyable service watching the sun rise and hearing all the birds. When the service was over, we had some time to kill before Easter brunch at church and the Easter egg hunt, so we went to Shelter Gardens to take a few pictures. We did not stay long, but I did manage to talk the kids into a few pictures.
Laura even took off her coat so that I could get a picture of her in her Easter outfit.
After returning to church, we enjoyed delicious food at the Easter brunch and then the kids got to hunt for eggs! You can’t really tell from the picture, but the eggs were hard to find (or not)…
Of course, as soon as the kids finished going through all the eggs they found at church, they began begging to go home to see if the Easter Bunny had visited our house. As we turned onto our street, Laura and John were talking very excitedly about the Easter eggs that they could see in just our front yard. As soon as I got the truck parked, they jumped out of the truck and ran into the house to look for their Easter baskets. They found them before I got into the house, so I didn’t get to take a picture of them *with* their baskets before they started tearing through them. 🙂
John was very excited to see the LEGO Arctic Base Camp set. He stared at it for so long that I had to remind him that he had other things in his basket.
Laura was excited to see the American Girl Sunshine Gardening Bench, among other items.
The kids were enjoying their baskets so much that I had to actually ask them if they wanted to hunt for Easter eggs. Of course, that reminded them that there just might be more things to find! John grabbed his basket and called the kitchen while Laura took care of the living room/dining room.
We all got a good laugh out of where some of the eggs were hidden. The Easter Bunny must really love beer!
I kept reminding the kids that we needed to find all the real eggs. We managed to locate 17 of them. After a fruitless search for the 18th egg, I let the kids begin opening the plastic eggs. Between church and home, the kids got quite the candy haul – a full gallon bag for each.
We spent the rest of the day with great friends! The Lowerys and Jeremy and Chaley came to enjoy dinner with us. Great friends, great food and drinks, and relaxing! Oh, and not to worry, the Easter Bunny came to have Easter dinner with us, too. He found the 18th egg, so we will have no rotting eggs hidden in our house.
