We attempted to go to the 26th Annual Salute to Veterans Airshow today. I say attempted because it started raining right about 10:15 and did not stop for a while. However, the Kansas City Dawn Patrol planes were flying as we arrived and we got to watch the US Army’s Golden Knights jump. I got a few decent pictures before I put the camera away to avoid it getting wet from the rain.
After attempting to wait out the rain in a hangar and, then, monitoring the rain cell on my phone KOMU app, we finally left about 11:30. We walked back to the truck in the rain with only some complaining from John. Both kids perked up when we drove through Lee’s Chicken for lunch. We spent the afternoon relaxing and Andy mowed the yard after the rain stopped.
We spent the evening at the Creech Household for a barbecue and fun. It occurred to me about halfway through the evening that the day has come; we only saw our kids when it was time to eat. They spent the rest of the time playing with Reagan and Wil. All of us had a great time and the adults did some beer-drinking damage – 21 bottles to be exact. Hey, it’s a holiday weekend and the “unofficial” beginning of summer!
