Laura was a little down today. She asked me, “Mom, why do I feel like crying for no reason?” I responded, “Because you are a girl.” Laura was NOT pleased with my answer so when she saw Andy, Laura asked him, “Dad, why do I feel like crying for no reason?” He responded, “Because you are a girl.” This led to frustration, a few tears, and her saying, “I don’t understand that!” Without missing a beat, Andy and I both replied, “You will…” (Admittedly, I should probably not have taken the photo of Girl in her down state, but it was simply too good to miss.)
