After getting great reviews and comments about the kids at their Parent-Student-Teacher Conferences, we headed for St. Louis and our first trip to the City Museum. We took one of Laura’s friends, Reagan, with us to enjoy the day off school. We really didn’t know what to expect at the City Museum, but I think it’s safe to say that it more than surpassed our expectations. All three kids (and us too) had a great time! Upon entering the City Museum, the kids immediately spotted the three-story slide. It was all we could do to keep them from running up the stairs to go down before we paid our admission fees.
We wandered around the museum for a while and came across this. The train was just getting ready to run, so the kids got to ride. Andy found a path that led to the middle of a train display and got to make the kids jump as they rounded the corner on the train!
Around yet another corner, we found the Human Hamster Wheel. All the kids had a great time on this even if they had a bit of a hard time getting it started!
Officially, I think that Laura’s fear of heights and trying new things is a thing of the past. I realized this when I saw her and Reagan climbing on the blue circular tube that hung out *over* a two-story drop to the main level of the City Museum. No fear whatsoever from Laura! Reagan, on the other hand, needed some coaching from Laura.
Did I mention that Laura’s fear of heights and trying new things is a thing of the past?!? She is between 40 to 50 feet in the air here and not scared at all. She must have climbed this at least five times or more.
In the meantime, John was busy playing in the ball pit. Just like his Daddy, he found two of the cutest girls in the place and spent a good 90 minutes playing with them… And flirting… Yes, folks, he’s a chip off the old block!
As with all good things, the day had to come to an end. We left the City Museum about 5:30, stopped for dinner at IHOP, and then headed home. After dropping off Reagan, Laura asked if she could just go to bed without taking a bath. I am pretty sure that both kids were sound asleep before we even turned out their light. It was just a great day and we will absolutely be going back!
