We used the free tickets that Laura won at Ridgeway FunDay to go to Big Surf Waterpark today. It was awesome! Six hours of fun in the wave pool, the kiddie pool, some slides, the lazy river, and the activity pool. We had a great time!
I continue to be amazed at how well Laura is doing in the water. She is just a little fish! She thought the wave pool was just about the best thing ever! She loved the waves. LOVED. THEM. She would do a bit of body surfing (she’s still learning that skill), or just jump right into them. She was genuinely disappointed when it was time for us to leave because the park was closing. I think she would have stayed in that pool all night.
John also loved the wave pool. He liked playing “on shore” and jumping into the waves. I’m impressed with John because he has no fear about putting his head underwater. He is so close to really swimming! The highlight of my day happened about 5 pm. John walked up to me in the wave pool and asked if he could sit on my lap. He climbed onto my lap, snuggled up, and promptly fell asleep for a good 30 minutes. The waves were splashing us and he slept through it all. You know he’s tired when he falls asleep in a wave pool!
It was so fun to watch the kids all day long in the water. Both Andy and I were sad that we had to leave.
Upon arrival back at the campground, we saw that our camping neighbors were there. The kids were so excited to see their new friends and rushed off to play. It was another great evening! We ate steak and pork steak with fried potatoes and green beans and mushrooms. We joined our neighbors for popcorn cooked over a campfire and roasted marshmallows. We had great conversation and it was just a relaxing time. It was another late night, but it was exactly what we needed.
