Fifth Grade Graduation day has arrived!  Today is the both an ending and a beginning.  Laura leaves our house today a fifth grader and will return a middle schooler.  I can’t believe it!

Of course, I had to take the obligatory last day of school picture.

The Awards and Graduation Ceremony were very nicely done.  Various awards were given out first with Laura receiving recognition for Student Council and Reading Club.  Then, each name was called and the fifth graders came forward to receive their diplomas.

I am so proud of Laura!  I know she is sad to be leaving Ridgeway Elementary, but she has worked hard throughout her time there.  I now present the Graduate!  Congratulations Laura!

After graduation, there was a reception for the fifth graders and their families.  I made sure to get a picture of Laura with her Unit C teachers – Mr. Coleman, Mrs. Cox, Mrs. Williams, and Mrs. Dempsey.

Once the reception was over, Andy and I left so that Laura could go to the playground for yearbook signings.  Once the kids got home from school, we left for the MKT Trail entrance off Scott Blvd.  We unpacked the truck, got our bikes ready, and began a family bike ride to the Big Tree.

The ride is just over 5 miles one way and took us about 45 minutes to an hour each way.

We spent about 90 minutes at the Big Tree enjoying a celebration picnic that included summer sausage, cheese, crackers, and fruit with Stone Hill Winery’s Sparkling White Grape Juice for the kids and Vidal Blanc for Andy and me.

The weather was absolutely beautiful and it was a great time as a family.  I was really glad that we got to spend this time together celebrating Laura’s graduation and the end of another school year.  Congratulations to our graduate!  I know you will do great at West Middle School!
